Lauren Gengler is an artist based out of Saint Paul. They grew up in rural Wisconsin and spent some time in Minneapolis, New York, and Chicago before graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an emphasis in writing. They mostly focus on painting, but have also done work in poetry, dance, and performance.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Although I often experiment with medium and style, I am always concerned with what is corporeal and what is mystical and where they overlap. The question of spirituality and its place in daily life are always present in anything I make. Many of my paintings are informed by my experience in rural Wisconsin and my history with ballet.
