Loretta Faveri
Loretta Faveri is a Toronto based visual artist/maker. After graduating from OCAD University’s Material Art and Design program in 2012, she spent several years exploring wearable sensors that generate sound through movement. Recently she has returned to her printmaking practice, creating 3D monotype prints as well as torn and stitched prints. She draws inspiration from indigenous Canadian and African art particularly the works of El Anatsui and Norvel Morriseau.
Faveri has been sober for almost two years and actively participates in a recovery group at St. Joseph’s health Centre in Toronto, Ontario. She recently received an Ontario Arts Council grant to bring art and mindfulness to her recovery community.

In 1994, I was documenting my daily angst in my journal. Years later, when I reread my words, I realized how much shame had consumed me. I removed the pages, applied ink and wax, cut them and then stitched them back together, not as they were but as something new to let the past simply be.
