ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work is rooted in storytelling, culture, and connection. I create vibrant acrylic paintings and large-scale murals that celebrate Black identity, family, and community, often drawing from African symbolism, ancestral memory, and everyday lived experiences. Through bold color, layered textures, and meaningful imagery, I aim to capture both the beauty and complexity of our narratives.

I do not see my art as existing for art’s sake alone. I believe art is a tool for healing. Each piece I create is intentional—designed to uplift, restore, and spark reflection. Whether it’s a father teaching his child, a community coming together, or symbolic elements like Adinkra patterns, my goal is to remind people of their strength, history, and potential.

As both an artist and educator, my practice extends beyond the canvas. I am committed to creating spaces where young people and communities can see themselves reflected in powerful and positive ways. My murals and paintings are not just visual experiences—they are invitations to feel, to remember, and to grow.

Through ZuluSoul, I strive to build a body of work that honors the past, speaks to the present, and inspires the future.
