Matthias Lupri’s colorful cubist portraits, geometric abstractions, and textural landscapes take inspiration from inner memory, dreams, reflections, and the era of Abstract Expressionism in 1950s New York. The German-born artist is influenced by the likes of Picasso, Richter, and Kiefer. Lupri’s fascination with nature from his Rocky Mountain upbringing, as well as his vast musical past, inform the improvisational and compositional aesthetic of his work, which aims to capture the inner mythical spiritual essence of life.
