ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Morgan's body of work entitled "RAINING COWS" expresses the inspiration he gets from rain, colour and his love of cows, colours and shapes. The cows are graphic, however, one can actually see the layers and splashes of rain creating a 3D like floating effect. The colours, clouds, rain and the graphic application all come together to create calm and a feeling of happiness. In these stressful and turbulent times, Morgan wants “Raining Cows” to make people happy and to make them smile.

Morgan launched his Raining Cows “Walking Art” jacket collection on the runway of Fashion Art Toronto during Fashion week. It was where art, fabric and imagination come together. Morgan exhibited a solo show called, “The Land of Raining Cows”, presented by Steam Whistle. Morgan and his brain sculpture “Blue Sun”, participated in the Baycrest TELUS Health Brain Project which was exhibited around Toronto. Morgan was also a part of the official TIFF gallery during the Toronto Film Festival. Seven of Morgan’s “Raining Cows” were featured on Samsung phone cases at the Artist’s Spotlight in the new Samsung Experience Store, Eaton Centre. The world of art is changing, therefore Morgan has released a collection of Raining Cows NFT’s on various market places.

Morgan and his Raining Cows have been featured in The Toronto Star, The Toronto Sun, Global News, The National Post, The Globe and Mail, The Montreal Gazette, BlogTO and Narcity Canada. He has also partnered with Samsung, BlogTO, TELUS and Steam Whistle. Morgan's work can be found in collections across Canada and internationally.

This was a 100+ year old window from a house at Queen and Bathurst in downtown Toronto that had been demolished and turned into condos recently. I transformed the old window into a clock for SWATCH that was first exhibited at the Artist Project. The theme was to create something on the concept of “Time Flies” I’m certain this window saw a lot in its 100+ years. I wanted to give it a new lease on life so it can be enjoyed by people as art for years to come. The viewers can look outside into the world of Raining Cows and use their own imagination of what they see. Time does fly. Make it count.

In 2018 a huge fire broke out at Morgan's studio in downtown Toronto. It was all over the news. Unfortunately he lost all of his Raining Cows paintings, art supplies and furniture in the fire.

He only took one burned painting with him before he said good bye to his studio for the last time. It was a way for him to deal with the fire and he had to take at least something with him. Morgan ended up transforming the bunt Raining Cows "I Sea Blue" painting into a Raining Cows "Unmasked" painting. It was to show that his Cows or "people" going through difficult times can overcome anything. Morgan named the new painting "Survival" and he refused to sell it and just kept it for himself.

RAINING COWS UNMASKED "United Again" was created after Morgan's studio fire. This piece was apart of his "Unmasked" Series after seeing the support from the community and everyone coming together to help Morgan exhibit one month after the fire at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition.

RAINING COWS UNMASKED “ United Again” was released as a bomber jacket and worn on the runway of Fashion Art Toronto in 2019. 10 bomber jackets were designed by Morgan Sheardown which he called Raining Cows "Walking Art".

This Bomber Jacket was also featured on Global News, Toronto. See picture 4.

Morgan's body of work, “Raining Cows”, expresses the inspiration he gets from rain, colour - and his love of cows. He uses rain as a filter to distort and create different levels of abstraction. The cows are graphic, however, his work is painted on different layers to the feeling of rain. One can actually see the 3-7 layers and splashes of rain, creating a 3D like floating effect. “Raining Cows” represents one’s imagination of something that is not real. However, one is taken to a happy place while looking at these floating creatures.
