Natalie McGuire

Natalie was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Her mom came here from Germany and while dad was born here in Saint Paul. She currently resides in Saint Paul, she loves the small-town feel that the city offers, and the location, proximity in the US is perfect for her travels. Natalie’s creative side was fueled by Her parent's love of travel via RV. They believed the road trip was a part of the journey and got to see a lot of America that you just can’t get from a plane. She’s always been a fan of Ansel Adams and Bob Ross’ style, even though Bob was a painter, and loved watching his programs on the local PBS. This drove her out and be with nature. Creating art helps Natalie connect with the viewer, exhibiting her ability to make you feel like you are there with her.
Living in the Midwest has so much to explore, from big cities to farm back country roads, plethora of lakes and rivers to enjoy; let’s not forget the great lakes and border with Canada.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Every day Nature tells a different story, and I pay attention to her subtle hints urging me to wander and capturing the ever-changing scenery. This collection I call “Spirit of the land” is my infrared black and white photography. They illustrate an alternate world, almost a dreamlike state that feels three-dimensional. You will have a new appreciation to Nature’s murals with different perspectives that you may not have noticed before.
My bond with Mother Nature started out when I was a child, from my parents’ love of travel via RV. We believed that the road trip was a part of the journey that you can’t get from a plane. The side windows were my TV screen, and I would sit and watch the landscape go by. No re-runs to watch, just magical views to ignite my child’s imagination insisting that my mind wander. This has stuck with me into my adult life, and how I decide what areas I want to explore.
The long drives and watching the landscape transform right before my eyes take me to another conscience plain. These road trips recharge my soul and fuel my creativity that I share with the world in my art. I prefer to navigate the less-traveled routes so I can savor the sights and sounds of nature helping me ground and bond as one with our planet.
