Odette Lackey

Odette is an impressionist painter living in Edmonton, Alberta with her husband and beloved 'husky doodle'. She draws inspiration from her beautiful natural surroundings in the North Saskatchewan River valley and Rocky Mountains close to home. Her love of the outdoors stems from enjoying time spent in nature from a young age, which has grown into a fascination with trying to capture the spirit, joy and optimism drawn from nature and infusing it into her artwork. Although traditionally a mural artist, Odette has tamed the scope of her paintings to contain her latest work in watercolour and acrylic on paper and canvas. The joy and exuberance of her work remains, however, and is depicted in the bright colours and floral hues of nature in all its varied loveliness.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I paint because it makes me happy and settles my soul. I try to convey some of the joy, fascination and peace I find when depicting the beauty of nature in my work. If I can share this love with others through my art, my mission has been accomplished!
