Paola Bidinelli

Paola Bidinelli is an Italian abstract mixed-media artist based in Watertown, Massachusetts. Her work explores themes of memory, identity, and the human relationship with the natural world, revealing the delicate interplay between what is seen and what is felt while bridging the physical and the intuitive.
Paola holds a master’s degree in History and Semiology of Art from Gabriele d’Annunzio University in Italy. She further developed her artistic voice through advanced studies at the International Arts Academy in Osimo, Italy, and the historic School of Vanguard Painters in Piazza del Popolo, Rome. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and Europe, earning recognition for its expressive depth and tactile presence.
Beyond her visual practice, Paola is also a writer of novels, essays, and poetry. Passionate about the connection between creativity and healing, she leads workshops in intuitive art and self-expression, guiding participants to connect with their inner selves and use art as a pathway to personal insight and emotional well-being.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work is rooted in abstraction and mixed media, yet deeply connected to lived experience, the places I have called home, the memories I carry, nature, change, and the many layers of identity that accumulate over a lifetime.
I’m drawn to color, texture, imperfect surfaces, and especially the unexpected marks that emerge when I let go of control and allow the painting to find its own direction. At heart, I see myself as an observer, always questioning, noticing, and collecting impressions from the world around and within me, then transforming them into a visual language.
