ARTIST’S STATEMENT
The underlying intent of my art is to expound an idea or concept, to convey a message, to explore the wide range of emotions and sensitivities we experience as human beings. As a result, each of my mosaics has its own unique narrative.
Equally important in my mosaic practice is upcycling - taking what we consider worthless or useless and transforming it into something useful. I combine scavenged corroded metal, considered worthless and ugly, and pair it with precious and semi-precious materials to offer these “worthless” materials a new life and purpose.

Each mosaic I create is a conceptual piece of art I make to tell a story. This story is about the path we carve for ourselves on our journey through life. We pass from the innocence of childhood into our turbulent teens, we mature from adulthood into old age where we hope to make the best of our “golden years”. We each carve our own path based on the decisions we make and the directions we choose, so every path tells its own story.

It’s twilight and a rainy, overcast day comes to an end. But, before darkness falls, the sun bursts through and shoots golden streaks of crepuscular rays through gaps in the clouds across the darkening sky.
