I am a proud recipient of the Jaime Simmons Memorial Award as a graduate of the Visual and Digital Arts program at Humber College. Sheridan College has also contributed to my artistic training with a Certificate in Illustration. Membership in a number of art organizations enables me to remain contemporary. Exhibitions in locations such as Toronto, Ohio, British Columbia and Vienna have allowed my art to be introduced to a wider audience. Volunteering my services in workshops, art events and ArtReach programs have assisted me in engaging with the public and the art community in meaningful ways. I support accessibility in the creative arts and opportunities that allow for art to be appreciated by everyone.

PRINCE & KINGS is a scratchboard artwork that creates patterning, texture and allows for movement and dimension to shine within the scratchboard medium through hatching, stippling, cross-hatching, and the manipulation of sharp tools that aid different degrees of ink and clay removal to render the figures. Strategic colourizing supports the narrative and brings further visual interest.

When thinking of wildlife, forests and natural landscapes come to mind. But what does it look like when humanity encroaches upon nature? Habitat Displacement provides a glimpse into the reality of a species of the wild that has been forced to forage in a concrete jungle. Utilizing the scratchboard medium, the Raccoon perches forlornly and prominently on a windowsill. IN THE WILD takes on a whole new meaning. Who is the beast in this reality?
Habitat replaced or displaced? The viewer is left to judge.

How do shapes and colour representations relate to one another? Are they relatable to abstraction and deconstruction? Through employing triad, complements, monochrome, square, and analogous colour schemes and different colour values, these colour harmonies realize into a cohesive piece. Organic forms of various shapes and sizes are meant to add interest and movement to the piece. Inverted repetitive patterning has also been incorporated within the composition. Mixing flexible modeling paste to a second layer of the acrylic paint builds up heavy textures and dimensional form.
Even when there is no colour relation; cross-over of colour has been allowed to occur in order to force the composition to read as a cohesive arrangement, even though there are contrasts of colours.
With abstraction and deconstruction as the driving force, there is more licence to mix and match compositional ideas that may otherwise have been more constrained in execution, in a more representational format.

BEJEWELLED TRINKET BOX draws out the dimensionality and realism in this work through the use of traditional scratchboard techniques to scrape away and manipulate top silver and blue India ink layers that have been applied to a clayboard surface. Additional blue inks, re-scraped, render the bejewelling gems complete.
