I am a proud recipient of the Jaime Simmons Memorial Award as a graduate of the Visual and Digital Arts program at Humber College. Sheridan College has also contributed to my artistic training with a Certificate in Illustration. Membership in a number of art organizations enables me to remain contemporary. Exhibitions in locations such as Toronto, Ohio, British Columbia and Vienna have allowed my art to be introduced to a wider audience. Volunteering my services in workshops, art events and ArtReach programs have assisted me in engaging with the public and the art community in meaningful ways. I support accessibility in the creative arts and opportunities that allow for art to be appreciated by everyone.

As a visual and mixed media artist based in the Greater Toronto area, I am knowledgeable in a variety of mixed media that includes ink, charcoal, coloured pencil, acrylic, watercolour, oil, chalks and graphite, with an interest in scratchboard and the exploration of creative new ways of working and presenting in this medium.

The influence of John Franzen is reflected in this artwork with the use of continuous line to demonstrate fluidity of movement. CONTINUOUS LINE demonstrates the nature of a single inhalation of breath with each parallel line, that evolves into surprisingly layered and patterned, waves and undulations.

PORTRAIT IN GREYSCALE is a study in the use of greyscale, light and shadow. The angled, up-close imagery reflects a unique 3D effect through the employ of traditional scratchboard techniques that utilizes sharp tools to scrape away an India ink top layer to an underlayer of white china clay that reveals an image that provides a balance between the dark and the light.

WILDLIFE CANADA depicts the maple leaf image as a backdrop to visually communicate a variety of iconic animals observed as central to recognizing a Canadian identity and the Canadian landscape. Strategic and intentional scraping off of the surface layers reveal the beaver, the moose ,the eagle, the polar bear and the Canada goose to figure prominently. The 3-dimensional visuals found within this scratchboard medium, in black and gold, allows for a dynamic expression of these majestic creatures.

LITTLE DARLINGS is an artwork depicting a moment of childhood innocence and relationship.
Through an exploration of the scratchboard medium, sharp tools carved into the black ink which sits on a white clay layer and board substrate, create depth of form. Cross-hatching, stippling and hatching serve to reveal a command of line that enables the rendering of shapes and textures. The portrait figures are allowed dimensionality and realism. Strategic pops of colour further the narrative in the use of India inks.
The viewer is invited to witness honest emotion and to perhaps journey to a similar moment in time where such an act of tenderness is remembered.

NATURE'S WORLD utilizes strategic and intentional scraping and scratching off of the black ink surface layers to reveal a white clay surface beneath and images that figure prominently of the rabbit, the Blue Jay ,the male and female cardinals and the White-tailed deer. Three dimensional visuals are achieved within this scratchboard medium, by employing sharp tools to create markings, crosshatchings, and hatchings that contribute to realistic dynamic expression. In manipulating relevant India ink tones, the narrative for realism is further enhanced.
