Pravee Rughoobur is a contemporary visual artist with over 17 years of experience working in mixed media, abstraction, and modern art. Her practice is driven by expressive layering, texture, and intuitive mark-making, creating works that explore emotion, movement, and inner landscapes. She is the winner of the Ottawa Art Battle (June 2025) and has exhibited internationally in prestigious exhibitions including Salon de Mai and Salon d’Été in Paris, ACA Group Exhibitions, Zee-Arts, Rotary International Online Exhibition, Dakshita International, the International Eco Art Project, Resonances – Contemporary Art Exhibition, and Artcom Expo International in Norway, as well as international online exhibitions in Morocco and Mauritius. Her artworks are held in private collections across the United States, Canada, France, Greece, Switzerland, Norway, Ireland, and Mauritius, reflecting her strong international presence and commitment to contemporary artistic expression.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work explores emotion, movement, and memory through abstraction and mixed media. I am drawn to layering, texture, and spontaneous mark-making as a way to translate inner landscapes into visual form. Each painting evolves intuitively, allowing color, gesture, and material to interact freely, creating a dialogue between control and chance. Influenced by lived experiences, cultural intersections, and the energy of my surroundings, my practice seeks to evoke feeling rather than represent form, inviting viewers to connect personally with the work and discover their own narratives within it.
