Reginald Rousseau

Reginald Rousseau is a Haitian-born and Harlem-raised Contemporary Visual Artist, pushing the boundaries of traditional portraiture, through allegorical portrait paintings, digital illustrations and mixed-media assemblages. He has studied Studio Arts, at the City College of New York, while pursuing an Architectural Design degree. Through, his “Composite Aesthetics” compositions, encompassing elements of both fine and decorative arts, Reginald masterfully intertwines the human form with organic motifs like roots, trees, and floral designs as well as geometric shapes to convey the notion of belonging and coexistence socially, culturally, spiritually and environmentally. His signature style includes silhouette forms, gestural lines, and vibrant colors, coupled with intricate patterns and multilayered textures. He has credited, Haitian Naive Art, African Textiles, Art Nouveau, Gothic Stained Glass and Modern Abstraction as major influencers in developing his style.
