Rosita Herat

Rosita is a Vancouver-based artist born and raised in Sri Lanka, who is self-taught, inspired by nature and wildlife. Early exposure to diverse ecosystems and wildlife inspired her lifelong connection to nature.
Her work reflects a desire to capture the essence of wildlife in its natural environment while encouraging viewers to reflect on the importance of preserving it. Rosita has in the last few years completed her Fine Arts at Emily Carr University of Art & Design and has continued her artistic development through mentorship and workshops with the Federation of Canadian Artists.

She is a member of her local community artists’ associations and value the opportunity to connect with fellow artists, share creative experiences, and contribute to the local arts community.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I am a self-taught artist based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Inspired by a childhood immersed in the natural beauty of a tropical island and enriched by travels around the world, my work celebrates the vibrant colours, textures, and spirit of nature. Through realistic depictions of wildlife, landscapes, and florals, I aim to create an emotional connection between the viewer and the subject while fostering appreciation for conservation and environmental stewardship. Working primarily in acrylics, I seek to tell stories that capture both the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
I believe art is both a calling and a gift. Finding beauty in the simplest expressions and breathing life into them through creation is a meaningful journey
