Their creative journey has taken them on a global adventure, where they delved into the intricacies of batik and mask carving in Bali, experimented the art of silver smithing and glass blowing in Thailand, explored the world of clay in Cambodia , murals in Mexico and fabric art and silkscreening while teaching in Maskwacis , Alberta .

Undercover was created entirely from upcycled materials. Created in an social enterprise space in the DTES . It started with the discovery of a box of desk brass name plates and evolved from there . Initially when the I did a name search, the name came up as a retired undercover cop. The second time I searched there was no information, she had disappeared . It’s heavily textured with multiple layers.

This mixed media was created after visiting the northern mountains of Vietnam.The cloth was a piece I acquired from a local woman . These intricate pieces of art are from the traditional collar of the woman’s dress. They re replaced frequently and I fell in love with it and the craftsmanship shown. It is sewn onto the canvas with sinew and incorporated in the painting that represents the mountains of the region.

Every person has a story and this Riders. She also works in upcycled materials and is a kindred artist. She is wearing the design that she created for Vancouver fashion week. The first thing she had ever sewn. In the background her femiquin is hanging. The bike wheel is a nod to her life in Montreal where she rode her bicycle backwards everywhere. CBC did a segment on her , you can see it on YouTube. But this is my tribute to her.
