Sara received her BFA in Sculpture from California State University Fullerton in 2017. After graduating, she participated in the Torpedo Factory Post-Grad Residency in Alexandria, Virginia. During this residency she further explored the boundaries of fiber as a medium in her art. After completing the residency, she accepted a position as the 3D Studio Manager for the Art Department at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 2019. While working at LMU, she found joy in working with higher education students and helping foster their artistic practice. In 2022 Sara accepted a Lab Assistant position for the Art & Architecture Department at Harold Washington College in Chicago.

The female body is a place of continual metamorphosis. Throughout a woman’s life, her body undergoes many evolutions of construction and reconstruction. These “womb” sculptures explore what can be argued as the most extraordinary bodily transformation: pregnancy and birth. Taken individually, these wombs are snapshots into the creation of life. As a whole, they show the other-worldly beauty and power it takes to create a society. This sculpture is the artist's 1st rendition.

While my sculptures appear to be heavily abstracted bodily images from afar, closer inspection reveals they are direct, sometimes explicit, references to female anatomy. By openly showcasing and celebrating the female body, my work serves to disrupt the notion that it is an enigmatic entity shrouded in shame. This sculpture is one of my most unambiguous representations of the most fundamental physical features of womanhood.
