Located in Richmond, California Sarah Waite Chase creates paintings, illustrations, and soft sculptures. She is a gardener for pollinators and loves to paint outside with the flowers, hummingbirds, butterflies, dogs, and clouds. Her work is inspired by our relationship with natural world and the saturated colors in her dreams.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

The world is alive. Home in my body is being outside and hearing the birds singing, seeing butterflies flutter by, and dragonflies darting through the sky. My eyes collect the landscapes joyful saturated colors so I can share them in drawings, paintings and soft sculptures. I grow flowers for pollinators especially butterflies and hummingbirds. Gardening is part of my art practice because I see every act of caring for the natural world as mingling with our forgotten secrets. My art is an invitation to remember our connection with the magical creatures of this land including ourselves.
