Stephane Hubert-Gautherot

Born in Compiègne outside Paris, Stéphane Hubert spent part of his childhood on the island of Martinique before returning to France to study art. He attended for 2 years the Villa Thiole Art School in Nice at which time he discovered photography and traditional art techniques. He then returned to Paris to study architecture at EMSAT (Now EPSAA).
Stéphane has worked in a variety of media including painting and drawing, graphic design, 3D and computer animation and photography, as well as furniture design. The latter however, along with his ecological sensibility, has inspired him to work most recently with found objects, repurposing or refurbishing them into more modern pieces. The inspiration has led Stéphane to develop a line of custom and ready-made free-standing furniture constructed primarily from reclaimed and sustainably sourced materials.
His work has been part of several gallery exhibitions, including group shows at Galerie de Nesle in Saint-Germain-des-Pres, Paris, Galerie Chant des Mains, Paris, C.I.J. in Vence, France, Emerging Artists Showcase at Linhardt Design Gallery, East Village, NYC, 3rd Ward, Bushwick, Brooklyn, and Fair Folks and a Goat, Upper East Side, NYC as curated by Alicia Lubowski-Jahn.
Stéphane’s work is held in private collections in New York, Paris, Chicago,
Los-Angeles and San Francisco. He currently resides and works in Brooklyn.
