Sunny Nestler

Sunny Nestler is an Assistant Professor of Art at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. They are a co-founder of Bike Saviours Bicycle Collective, Tempe Zine Fest, the Vancouver Community Bike Shop Network, and VR Club, which are all spaces that work to make complicated tools and resources more accessible. Nestler regularly exhibits at zine and alternative press fairs and has produced over a dozen publications under their imprint Megaspora Press.
Nestler has a multidisciplinary art practice and works in drawing, painting, illustration, animation, book-making, new media, and social practice. Their subject matter considers parallel universes teeming with invented creatures based on familiar symbols, their relatedness, and their reflection in our internal landscapes. Their current projects center ecological concerns in the Salish Sea watershed area, Yiddish language revival, and next-generation holography. Their practice has been supported by Canada Council, BC Arts Council grants, and residencies at Banff Centre.
