Tiziana Mazziotto
Born and raised in Naples, Italy, Tiziana is an artist and scenic painter whose work bridges the worlds of fine art and theatrical design. From an early age, she were captivated by the dramatic beauty of Naples—its architecture, rich colors, and storytelling traditions—elements that continue to shape their artistic vision today.
Tiziana specializes in the use of texture to create depth, realism, and emotion in their work. Whether replicating the weathered patina of aged stone, the rich grain of wood, or the ethereal softness of a painted sky, they masterfully manipulate surfaces to enhance visual storytelling. This expertise has made them a sought-after scenic painter in theater, film, opera, and live events.
Now based in New York City, Tiziana continues to push the boundaries of scenic and fine art painting, incorporating layered techniques and innovative materials to bring their creations to life. Beyond their work for the stage, they explore personal artistic projects that delve into themes of memory, transformation, and the tactile relationship between art and viewer.
Blending the artistic heritage of Italy with the energy of New York’s creative scene, Tiziana is dedicated to transforming spaces and igniting imagination through color, form, and texture.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am captivated by the quiet poetry of decay—the intricate, ever-evolving patterns left behind as time and nature reclaim their space. What many see as signs of deterioration—rust bleeding through metal, lichen creeping across stone, layers of peeling paint, and the crumbling of once-solid structures—I see as a testament to nature’s quiet resilience and the beauty of transformation.
These surfaces tell stories. They are living canvases shaped by time, weather, and the relentless cycle of growth and erosion. To me, decay is not an end but an evolution—an ongoing dialogue between the organic and the man-made, between permanence and impermanence. It is in these fragile, fleeting moments of transition that I find the deepest inspiration.
At times, within these visions of erosion and renewal, I weave images of the city—its silhouettes, its structures, its fleeting moments. Urban landscapes, like natural ones, bear the marks of time, revealing layers of history, memory, and quiet resilience. The juxtaposition of cityscapes with the textures of decay highlights the ever-shifting relationship between human creation and nature’s inevitable reclamation.
Through my work, I seek to capture the raw, tactile beauty of these surfaces, celebrating the textures, colors, and rhythms that emerge when nature asserts itself over human constructs. In the slow unraveling of structure, I find not destruction, but rebirth—a reminder that even in dissolution, there is artistry, and within impermanence, a quiet, undeniable grace.
