Tolu Ayorinde

Tolu Ayorinde is a Nigerian/American painter, illustrator and Art Educator in NewYork City. Born in, Nigeria, Tolu earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, formerly the University of Ife in Nigeria, and subsequently a Masters degree in School Building Leadership at CUNY ..City University of New York ( City College)
Striving for Emphasis, Movement and Rhythm, in his paintings, Tolu’s works are often motivated by scenes from nature, travel experiences and his insatiable curiosity about visual interpretations of history and folklore.
In addition to working on paper, canvas, and mixed-media, Tolu has explored and successfully incorporated bold painting knife technique to achieve texture effects in his works.
He participated in the Black History celebration of The Harlem Fine Arts Festival in February, 2024 and 2025 respectively at the Glass House, Manhattan NewYork City.
Also, Tolu has Showcased some of his paintings in support of The Juneteenth Celebration by the Empower The Village Organization “ For The Love of Art” at the Montclair Museum, Montclair, New Jersey on the 14th and 15th of June, 2024.
His paintings and illustrations are adorned with intricate use of color theory, especially in his depictions of historical accounts and also evidenced in his many personalized projects commissioned in his colorful abstract style.
Tolu currently lives in West Hempstead , New York, and works as a Visual Arts Educator with the New York City Public School system

My exhibits in this show is a visual journey filled with creativity, knowledge and inspiration as well as interpretation of historical facts and folklore, how these facts help shape the present and continue to educate the next generation
