Tom Stahl

I am a San Francisco-based travel, landscape, architecture, and Burning Man photographer. I took up photography in 1987 when I quit my job to travel around the world for 18 months. During the trip I discovered that my most intense experiences and memories came while behind the lens. Since then I have taken photographs in 60 countries on six continents. My photos have won international competitions and have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. In the last two years I’ve had photos displayed in the Yosemite Museum, the de Young Museum in San Francisco, the Haggin Museum of Art in Stockton, and the National Zoological Museum of China in Beijing, as well as numerous galleries around San Francisco. Photography not only allows me to document my exploration of the world, but also forces me to slow down, focus, and live in the moment.
