ARTIST’S STATEMENT

As an explorer of the natural world and an ongoing seeker of the human mystery, my journey seeks to cross the boundaries of the symbolic and the sensual, to find appreciation in the wonders of the seemingly ordinary, and to speak in an ennobled visual language of the both the joys and darknesses of life and death.

25.50x25.50x2"

The central work on my 'Spore' series, this work is a mixed media exploration, endeavouring to accurately represent the incredible beauty and delicacy of a fungus spore print, and the interesting visual comparison made to other natural forms. This work harmonizes beautifully with the second Spore Series artwork.

The main work in my 'Woven Light' series, 'Cocoon' is a study of light and dark on an antique linen bedsheet, wrapped around the body. Painted during the Covid lock down, these works are contemplations and observations of the self and one's immediate surroundings in a place of comfort and withdrawal.
