Wm H. Jones is a contemporary visual artist, illustrator, author, and creative storyteller whose work explores culture, history, family, identity, and the enduring strength of the human spirit. With more than four decades of experience in the visual arts, Jones has built a distinguished career spanning fine art, illustration, design, education, and visual communications.
Born in New York City and shaped by experiences in both urban New York and rural North Carolina, Jones draws inspiration from personal history, community, and the rich cultural narratives that connect generations. His artistic journey began at an early age and evolved through studies in art, design, and communications, followed by a twenty-year career in the United States Air Force and later as a Multimedia Illustrator Specialist supporting major government agency.
Working across traditional and digital media, Jones creates artwork that blends powerful imagery with meaningful storytelling. His collections often celebrate family, heritage, faith, resilience, and the contributions of African Americans throughout history. Through his company and his growing Jazz & North Adventures children's book series, he continues to create work that educates, inspires, and preserves cultural memory for future generations.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My artwork is driven by a passion for storytelling and a belief that art has the power to preserve history, celebrate culture, and connect people across generations.
Drawing from personal experiences, family heritage, and the diverse communities that have shaped my life, I create artwork that explores themes of identity, resilience, family, faith, and cultural legacy. Whether working in fine art, illustration, or visual narratives, my goal is to create images that invite viewers to reflect, learn, and engage with stories that deserve to be remembered.
I am particularly interested in highlighting overlooked histories and everyday moments that reveal the strength, dignity, and humanity of ordinary people. By combining traditional artistic principles with contemporary digital techniques, I strive to create work that is both visually compelling and emotionally meaningful.
Through every piece I create, I hope to inspire conversation, encourage understanding, and remind us that our stories—both personal and collective—have the power to shape the future.
