Alex Asai is a Toronto-based, self-taught mixed-media collage artist. Working primarily with magazine pages, Asai hand-rips and hand-cuts fragments before reassembling them into large-scale compositions.

Born and raised in Alberta, with Japanese-Canadian heritage, Asai spent more than a decade in Vancouver before relocating to Toronto in 2025. His work is driven by an interest in how contrasting elements can coexist and combine to create something unexpected and beautiful.
