Alex LoBasso
Graphic designer by education and trade, Alex LoBasso has often turned to painting as a creative release from the constraints of commercial art. The aesthetic approach is sometimes more informed by stark graphic forms and other times more organic in nature. Currently the focus is more on the latter.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
In my paintings I explore the space between how we imagine our future experiences before they happen and the memory of past events. Such a large part of our lives is defined by this intimate relationship between imagination and memory to the point that it can sometimes start to define our reality or be the catalyst for new pursuits. These paintings come together in multiple expressive sessions which allow me to navigate the marks and start defining the visuals that bring these thoughts and memories to life.
