MAIZIANNE is a Westchester-based abstract and figurative painter originally from Belgium. Her artistic journey has been shaped by studies at the Art Students League of NYC, the Art League of Houston, and the Glassell School of Art — but just as much by her own deep commitment to self-growth, exploration, and independent creative practice.
Rooted in expression and emotion, her work explores the interplay between abstract textures and the human form, often drawing inspiration from photographs to paint vivid, memory-infused portraits and figures.
Since her first solo exhibition in 2011 in Houston—centered on the theme of women—MAIZIANNE has exhibited extensively across North America. Her career includes a dynamic blend of gallery shows, private commissions (notably family portraits), children's book illustrations, and a few CD cover designs. Whether through mixed media, acrylics, or textured surfaces, she brings mood and memory to life on the canvas.
Highlights include a painting featured in Elle Decoration UK (August 2023), solo exhibitions at Gracemoon Arts in Bushwick (Brooklyn), multiple participations in the Artist Project of Toronto and the Affordable Art Fair in New York, and several collaborative projects with nonprofit organizations such as ShareLoveFund, Sister's Place and LP4Y to name a few.
