Annis Thompson
Art has always been a vital part of my life. Primarily self-taught, I began drawing at age five and since that time have been unable to stop. I have had the benefit of taking courses in drawing, watercolours, acrylics, portraits, life drawing, landscapes, cityscapes and abstract art. Different types of medium have been put to use, including pencil, ink, pastels, watercolours and acrylics. My work has been featured in numerous exhibits, spaces and events. It has been my good fortune to be part of the West Toronto Artists collective, participating in recent studio tours and festivals.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Art, for me, is driven by a blend of fixation and inspiration. My fixation comes from the elements of nature contending with landscapes made over by mankind.
My inspiration comes from wildlife adapting to these changes. My images of wildlife and nature are painted in acrylics, or with mixed medium rendered on canvas.
