I am Avisha Hp, a Toronto-based artist and painter specializing in contemporary abstract art. My practice focuses on acrylics, texture, and mixed media, through which I create layered and intuitive compositions. Guided by mentors such as Aydin Aghdashloo and contemporary artist Shadi Compani, I have developed an approach to abstraction that is rooted in experimentation and material exploration. I continue to expand my practice through new projects, collaborations, and exhibition opportunities.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I use abstract painting to explore emotion, memory, and transformation. Working with color, texture, and mixed media, I create layered compositions through a process that combines intuition with deliberate construction. My practice is rooted in the belief that abstraction can express complex inner states beyond language.
I am drawn to the space between control and spontaneity, where unexpected forms and relationships begin to appear. Through my work, I aim to create paintings that invite contemplation, emotion, and personal interpretation.
