Azar Ebrahimi

Azar Ebrahimi is an Iranian-Canadian visual artist based in Toronto. Working primarily in painting and drawing, her practice centers on the human figure as a vessel for memory, identity, and lived experience. Through intimate compositions and a restrained palette, she explores themes of migration, femininity, solitude, and the body’s relationship to place.

Rooted in personal narratives, Azar’s work reflects moments of presence, vulnerability, and quiet resistance. Her paintings often emerge from everyday gestures and unwitnessed scenes, inviting viewers to pause and engage with what is usually overlooked. While oil painting remains central to her practice, she approaches materials intuitively, allowing process and emotion to guide each work.

Azar has participated in group exhibitions in Iran and Canada and is actively involved in community-based art education. Alongside her studio practice, she teaches and facilitates workshops that encourage reflection, storytelling, and embodied expression through art.
