Casey Torch

I am a Toronto based artist, illustrator, and author whose lifelong love of nature, animals, and creativity shapes every aspect of my work. I have been painting and creating since I was a little girl. From an early age, I discovered a deep joy in storytelling through art, and as I became a parent, that passion naturally grew into making rhymes with and for my children. These playful verses, paired with vibrant illustrations, became the foundation of my creative voice.

Nature walks have always been a cherished part of my life. As a dedicated dog lover and a friend to animals of all kinds, I find constant inspiration in the natural world. Long hikes through the woodlands of Ontario sparked the initial vision for my book, “Once Upon A Woodland Walk”. Immersed in forest trails, surrounded by wildlife, textures, and light, I began painting the creatures I had imagined to appear. Creating gentle, rhythmic rhymes to accompany each artwork felt like a natural next step, and soon the story flowed organically from my experiences outdoors.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Step into a forest where golden leaves drift and every path leads to a new discovery. Once Upon a Woodland Walk is a collection of original watercolor paintings inspired by the quiet magic of Canadian woodlands and the animals that call them home.

Created with luminous watercolor washes and hand-painted gold details, each piece invites viewers into a world where nature feels enchanted yet familiar. From watchful bears and moonlit owls, to playful raccoons and gentle deer, these woodland companions remind us to slow down, wander a little further, and reconnect with the wonder waiting outdoors.

Each painting tells a story—one of curiosity, belonging, resilience, and the timeless beauty of the natural world. Together they form a collection that celebrates the magic found in every woodland walk.
