My name is Cefora Rubin, and I am a fine artist originally from Brazil. Since moving to the United States in 1989, I have found both my home and my creative community here.
Although I have been painting since childhood, I initially pursued a career as a therapist because my family expected me to become a therapist rather than an artist. For many years, I balanced these two worlds—working in mental health by day while nourishing and expressing myself through painting by night.
Today, I have fully embraced my calling as an artist, aligning my life with my true purpose. My background in therapy continues to deeply inform my artistic practice, giving me a sense of urgency to translate years of stored images, emotions, and lived experiences onto the canvas.
The vivid landscapes, organic forms, and vibrant colors of my São Paulo upbringing strongly influence my work. Through painting, I explore memory, emotion, identity, and connection, creating work that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
