For over 2 decades, Expression and Freedom has been my credo. Expression is the essence of an artist. I feel truly blessed to have been gifted the ability to take an abstract idea and manifest it into the realm of my 3 dimensional world. This in turn grants me the freedom from constraints, rules and conventions, the liberty to invent my own set of norms. But by no means does freedom come easy, infact, producing art has been by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Funny thing though, the harder it got, the easier it became if that makes any sense. An equilibrium was established. That feeling of freedom to express my truest, most personal vision, became my inspiration to push me forward throughout my career. In my humble opinion, that’s what life and art is all about, sometimes hard, sometimes easy, and everything in between.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Oxidation. Rust. Paint and Life. These elements share a common thread, always present in my work. Iron, copper and bronze, when oxidized, create a rusting or patinated finish, unfolding a fleeting beauty that is temporarily captured as a result. Such is a metaphor for life.
