Dovid Remy
Multi-Talented, contemporary artist with over 10 years of experience creating and producing artwork (visual and musical), organizing shows and events – one of the first artists in Toronto to develop and use e-commerce and online platforms to sell and promote artifacts.
Dovid Remy started the organization Remy’s Art Project in 2013, incorporated in 2019 – with the mission to: diffuse luxury (fine art and cultural products) and provide creative solutions (art appreciation, exploration and civic education).
Over the past few years, Dovid has documented and portrayed people and aspects of life in Toronto, Ontario. As an artist, he tries to observe things from different perspectives and viewpoints: sometimes taking a bird's eye-view, other instances seeing things symbolically in some sense, also examining nature and architecture. Subsequently, the artist develops methods to report, publish and exhibit these perceptions by way of images, content and melodies.
Still now, Remy’s work is based on two main themes: People & The City, and Symbolic Pieces. His work has been selected on numerous occasions for public shows, social, cultural, and special events, including concerts, weddings, workshops, schools, and government programs.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I truly enjoy fine art and like to produce paintings, sketches and commercial art. I am big on color, composition and meaning. Besides drawing, I primarily work with oil, pastel, and sometimes mix-media (lithography, print, audio-video).
I view artists as gifted entrepreneurs, historians and activists - with the ability to design and innovate. Some of my favorite visual artists include Rembrandt, van Gogh, Picasso, Matisse, Degas, and several impressionists. I draw much inspiration from ancient/sacred Jewish as well as Egyptian writings and images. Much of my work is inspired by nature and everyday life.
I do what I do because I am willing and able to use and create art-forms to express ideas, as well as promote beauty and unity in the world. My process is to observe things from different perspectives and viewpoints: sometimes taking a bird's eye-view, other instances seeing things symbolically in some sense, also examining nature and architecture. Subsequently, I develop methods to report, publish and exhibit these perceptions by way of images, content and melodies.
