Helena Aurelia

Helena Aurelia is a Toronto-based abstract artist working across painting and ceramics. Her paintings are fluid and expansive, while her ceramics are hand-formed and grounding. Rooted in embodiment, each piece is anchored, intentional, and quietly powerful.
Helena’s practice is intuitive and process-driven, creating layered, expressive, and deeply felt compositions. Each piece is designed to interact with the space it inhabits, bringing depth, movement, and atmosphere into a room. It also engages the individual who encounters it, creating a subtle but distinct shift in perception and internal awareness.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My work is rooted in the understanding that art extends beyond image or object. Working across painting and ceramics, I translate movement, emotion, and internal experience into form. My paintings are fluid and expansive, while my ceramics are hand-formed and grounding.
My practice is intuitive and process-driven, allowing each piece to emerge through layered, fluid movement. I’m interested in the relationship between fluidity and form, release and refinement, and in how a work can hold both movement and stillness at once.
Through this practice, I aim to create work that invites reflection, presence, and meaningful change. Each piece is made to be felt as much as seen, offering a subtle shift in perception and internal awareness. In this way, art becomes more than aesthetic. It becomes an invitation into a deeper connection with ourselves and how we experience the world.
