Hyuntae Kim

Hyuntae Kim, an Orange County–based photographer, graduated from the New York Institute of Photography in 2016. He loves traveling from town to town—moving from mountains to ocean, and from city streets to quiet countryside roads. Like many photographers, he carries his camera everywhere, always searching for something meaningful to capture.
His enthusiasm never fades, especially when photographing nature and industrial landscapes. In 2019, he received two Honorable Mentions in an international photography competition. His work was selected for the Best Photography Award in 2023–2024. In 2025, his photograph was nominated for the 1839 Photo Awards competition.
He has participated in three photography exhibitions, including a solo exhibition in 2018 and two group exhibitions in 2025.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Photography, to me, is a tool for capturing the world—
but it is also a way of learning to see it differently.
The world inside my viewfinder is small,
yet that small frame speaks to me,
quietly shaping itself into a story
I will one day tell my future self.
Mountains, cities, countryside roads, the homes we return to—
every place I pass through,
every corner of the society I belong to,
becomes a piece of who I am.
Through my lens, these fragments gather,
forming a fuller, truer version of me.
