Ian Lawson
My distinctly energetic style and sharp eye for detail combine to offer viewers bold, multi-layered artwork. With abstract expressionist and graffiti influences, I'm known for my vibrant imagery and perpetually moving compositions.
I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2015, majoring in Drawing & Painting at the Ontario College of Art & Design University. In 2014 my work was published in Colour and Two-Dimensional Design, an OCADU course textbook and interactive website.
Artworks of mine have shown across a variety of formats, including group exhibitions and events in Toronto and Montréal. Many of my paintings and drawings can now be found in private collections across Canada.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My work is anchored in the unlimited potential of our human souls. The white-hot churning diamond of fire which lives deep inside our guts, focused and brought to bear on top of an atom if we so choose it.
I continue to be inspired by experiences in which relentless positivity, intuition and courage lead to success.

I created this gestural abstract work relying primarily on intuitive techniques fueled by dream imagery. Careful viewers may discover hidden patterns and characters which inundate the composition.

The first of my paintings to walk the line between figure and abstraction. In this work in particular, I've attempted to pictorialise a human soul. She speaks without needing words.
