Born in Ghana, Jasmin-Nicole is a Canadian visual artist. Jasmin is a graduate of OCAD University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Drawing and Painting program. Her art practice focuses on contemporary representations of Black womanhood and West African culture and aesthetics through figurative art, abstraction, and sacred African braiding practices.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I create large-scale portraits and abstract dreamscapes inspired by memories, photographs, and traditional African hairstyles. In my artwork, I explore themes of spirituality, community, and nature using a combination of shapes, patterns, textures, and vibrant colors.
