KATHLEEN SONNENBERG
Contemporary Artist

Based in Vancouver, Kathleen Sonnenberg is a contemporary artist whose practice explores the expressive possibilities of colour, texture, material, and movement. Her work is rooted in the belief that art can transform not only a space, but also the way we experience and connect with it.

Working through a process of experimentation and layering creating original mixed-media works that balance spontaneity with intention. Her compositions invite the viewer to look beyond the surface, discovering depth, rhythm, and unexpected relationships between colour and form.

With an intuitive and material-driven approach, using mixed media and unconventional materials into visually dynamic contemporary artworks. Her work reflects a fascination with texture, energy, and the traces created through the artistic process, allowing each piece to develop its own distinctive character.

Her art is created to engage the senses and contribute to the atmosphere of the spaces it inhabits. Through vibrant colour, layered surfaces, and expressive mark-making, Sonnenberg invites curiosity, reflection, and a renewed appreciation for the visual environment around us.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My practice explores the relationship between colour, texture, material, and the energy of a space. I am interested in how an artwork can influence our perception of an environment and create an emotional response that extends beyond the physical boundaries of the work itself.
