ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I am a contemporary western and rural visual artist based in Killam, Alberta, Canada. Raised on a cattle and grain farm on the prairies, I draw inspiration from the everyday rhythm of farm life. The cattle in pasture, wildlife in distant fields, grain fields dancing in the wind and the quiet presence of open sky provide endless inspiration for me.
Working primarily in oil, my paintings have an element of realism but also focus on feeling. I use bold brushstrokes, lost-and-found edges, and unexpected colour to suggest movement, memory, and atmosphere rather than exact detail.

My work celebrates the familiarity of rural living and the moments that happen daily but carry deep meaning and beauty for the people who live them. My paintings represent the joy, resilience, grit and challenges of the prairies, inviting viewers to recognize their own stories in the land, livestock, and life of the prairie.
