ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My practice navigates the terrain between interior memory and exterior landscape. Straddling abstraction and realism, I employ varied modes of expression to explore nature, human experience, and memory. I draw from personal history, using remembered imagery alongside photography to examine home and belonging. Specific natural objects, such as plants and landmarks, reappear across works, carrying the essences of particular places. In this way, the interior and exterior operate as mirror images of one another, each reflecting and reshaping the other across time and
perception. The compositions function as reflective surfaces where memory and material reality face each other, aligning or distorting. Ultimately, we are left to question what is real. As humans, when we reminisce, how much was real and how much was imagined? What “real” objects and landmarks connect us to different places and points in time?
