Margaret Rodgers
Margaret Rodgers is an Oshawa artist, writer, and curator working in various media including painting drawing, and photo-based work with particular interest in solar printing. That said, painting remains the pivotal element in her process.
Solo shows include Closeups at RMG Oshawa, Solar Prints, CROSSWORDS, and MISSES, LASSES, & SHEILAS at the Women's Art Association of Canada, Solar Prints at Fort St. John North Peace Museum, B.C. Recent exhibition venues with the IRIS collective has included OISE, RMG Oshawa, Station Gallery Whitby, downtown Oshawa Space Invaders, and WhiteOut for Nuit Blanche. Her work has been included in No Man's Land (Erring on the Mount festival, Peterborough), Easy Come, Easy Go (AGP), and various WAAC art exhibitions. Internationally: Deviant Detours, Kunsthaus Gallery, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Beijing World Art Museum, and the Lake Placid/Saranac Lake area, NY.

Current project is a series of larger-than-life jigsaw puzzle pieces, to be exhibited in "Are You Now or Have You Ever" at Kent Farndale Gallery in April 2025. They are acrylic on canvas.

The figures are of a boy leaning on a lamp post and a man walking past, at the Four Corners in downtown Oshawa. The transferred image is taken from The Thomas Bouckley Collection photography archive at RMG Oshawa. The work was created for the exhibition "Out of Time" at Oshawa City Hall.

From Saranac Series on the history of Saranac Lake N.Y. as a location for tuberculosis treatment. The figure is taken from Munch's paintings about his sister. The work was exhibited at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts and then moved to a storefront gallery in Saranac Lake.

The piece was created during a two-week Oshawa street project where I worked in the display windows at BrushStrokes store. Our aim was to expose/articulate commercial change within the civic landscape, with hopes for urban renewal in a beleaguered yet feisty city core. I exhibited the artworks in several venues including RedHead Gallery. This piece contains images from the demolition of ACSYS to make way for Costco and a shopping area. The earth was being meticulously cleaned since the GM paint plant had been there.
