Hi, my name is Megan Gratton. I am an intuitive artist based in Saint Paul, Alberta. From a young age, I found art to be a source of self-discovery and expression, a passion that grew as I honed my skills through many mediums. After graduating from an arts-focused high school where I explored ceramics and advanced art courses, I began my journey as a tattoo artist, completing my apprenticeship at a professional shop in Saint Paul, Alberta, and earning my license at the age of 20. Since then, I’ve continued working as a tattoo artist, currently on a part-time basis, while exploring other artistic avenues.

Today, my primary focus is on acrylic painting, particularly pieces that capture the vibrancy and texture of nature. I work across various mediums, including watercolor, digital, and mixed media, but acrylics allow me to delve into dimension and bold, saturated colors. Using a special heavy textured-acrylic paint, I create textured floral abstractions that ‘pop’ off the canvas, giving each piece a unique depth. Nature serves as a grounding theme, and through my paintings, I invite viewers into a space where the internal and external worlds intersect.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My art is an exploration of the subconscious, a process that unfolds intuitively with each blank canvas. I rarely begin with a set plan; instead, I allow the piece to emerge organically, guided by my intuition and the energy of the moment. This flow from heart to canvas creates a direct link between my inner world and the final artwork, often manifesting as abstract floral forms that capture the essence of nature’s beauty.

Through heavy textures and vibrant colors, I seek to express the multidimensional nature of people and our ability to connect deeply with ourselves. I believe that art is a healing process, a way for the soul to communicate and reveal itself. My hope is that these pieces will bring an element of this healing energy to any space, offering an inspiring glimpse into the colorful, textured layers of both nature and the subconscious mind.
