Messiah Brown is a multidisciplinary visual artist who grew up in New York City. He spent years creating art before deciding to pursue it as his profession. His creative expression has developed through his life experiences, and his learning continued beyond college as he explored new materials and ways of making art.

His life heavily influences what he creates. Many of his ideas come from intense personal experiences, including moments that have put him in difficult and uncertain situations. Making art gives him a way to work through those experiences and express what can be hard to put into words.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My art is driven by everyday life and the experiences I bring into the illustrated, animated world I create. I give my pieces emotional stories that make them feel alive, as though they have lives of their own. Those stories often begin with real people or experiences, but my imagination takes them somewhere else. I’m also inspired by wonder, spirituality, nature, and city life, all of which find their way into my work.
