As a Jersey born artist raised in Lower East Side New York, Cartagena’s most significant
inspirations are based on his childhood and Nuyorican heritage. Inspired by everyday life to
source new ideas and materials to create pieces and further develop his artistry. Whether it be
on stretched canvas, sketching, videography, screen printing, or digital design, Cartagena’s
techniques prove to be very resourceful. Using one’s own vision to see artistic possibilities in
every item that is used or repurposed is a skill that is taken from his own life experiences.
