Neal Machado is a 24 year old visual artist based in the D.C. area. He has a background in mathematics and computer science, with degrees from the University of Maryland.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My work centers largely around color, with my overarching goal being to capture the brilliance of natural light. Through paint, I aim to preserve the most fleeting of visual sensations – from blossoming flowers to the setting sun. My works are the outcomes of many thorough investigations into color relationships that delight, a process documented in rich layers of pure, unmixed paint.

Through the search to accurately distribute color notes on canvas, my paintings also serve as an exploration of the underlying patterns present in a scene. Individual threads of colors establish interesting local geometries and abstractions, weave together to complete the impression when viewed from afar.
