Randa Hijazi

Visual artist based in Laval, Quebec, whose work bridges cultural narratives and humanitarian themes. Born in Damascus in 1978, she graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Damascus in 2000 and later earned a degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from the same institution in 2008. This dual academic background enables her to merge the analytical perspective of a journalist with the expressive sensibility of an artist.

Hijazi’s artistic journey has taken her from Damascus to Dubai and finally to Canada in 2017. Her experiences across these diverse cultures have profoundly influenced her work, allowing her to blend Eastern traditions with Western contemporary styles. Initially working in impressionism and realism, she has evolved towards a surrealistic approach that combines imagination with social commentary. Her art often addresses issues such as poverty, injustice, and displacement, aiming to evoke empathy and reflection.

Throughout her career, Hijazi has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Her contributions to the art world have been recognized with several awards, including the International Medal of Merit from the International Lions Clubs in 2023 and the Golden Medal in Art from the Leonardo Da Vinci Gallery and the Circle of Painters and Sculptors of Quebec.
