Raydel Blanco Valdes

Raydel Blanco (b. 1988, Havana, Cuba)

Raydel Blanco is a Cuban-born painter and visual artist whose work explores themes of displacement, migration, and the search for belonging through urban landscapes and architectural forms. A graduate of the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in Havana (2007), Blanco immigrated to Panama in 2009 and later to the United States in 2016, where he now lives and works in Northern Virginia.

His practice combines acrylic, oil, charcoal, and permanent marker on canvas to capture the transitory spaces of contemporary cities—bridging memory, nostalgia, and the immigrant experience. Through his series such as Luxury in Decay and Diornelys, Blanco examines the tension between consumer culture and human struggle, juxtaposing symbols of luxury with stories of survival and identity.

Blanco’s work is part of prestigious hotel collections including the Conrad Hotel and the Waldorf Astoria’s Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C. He has exhibited across the East Coast and was a finalist in the Biennale Made in VA 2024 and recipient of Best in Show at the Boardwalk Art Show 2025. His art is also featured in the Hilton Arlington National Landing and DoubleTree Crystal City Hotel projects, where he has created large-scale murals celebrating the spirit of movement and migration.

Through Raydel Blanco Studios and his brand PrintsByRaydel, he continues to expand the accessibility of fine art, offering limited-edition giclée prints and original works that blend museum-quality craftsmanship with raw emotional narrative.
