ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I create chalk pastel drawings inspired by curious observations of the natural world and familiar places around me. My subjects range from landscapes, clouds, and reflections to insects, gardens, animals, and people. I’m drawn to unusual perspectives and compositions that reveal something unexpected in ordinary scenes, sometimes verging on abstraction or taking on a subtle, mystical quality.
I’m particularly fascinated by the repetitions and patterns that emerge in nature. The shapes and textures of clouds, leaves, flower petals, wings, and ripples in water can appear simultaneously organized and spontaneous. I explore this balance between structure and apparent chaos, looking for the underlying order and interconnectedness. I’m also fascinated by fleeting moments and the changing effects of weather, light, and growth.
