Ruth is a Toronto based artist working in Collage and Mixed Media. She revels in using collage to experiment and explore the infinite ways of repurposing paper and imagery to compose a completely new narrative.

“The idea that you can create a new narrative by altering and rearranging imagery is incredibly powerful and compelling to me”

Ruth’s work has been published internationally and her collages have been exhibited in North America as well as Europe. Her most recent contributions have been to KOLAJ Magazine World Collage Day 2020 Edition, The Canadian Women’s Foundation Signal For Help Art Share Campaign in November 2020, Hungry For Love (Finland) 2021 and Drim Space Magazine 2022.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Expressing myself creatively came naturally to me from a young age and manifests itself in many ways. Paint, Paper, Music, Prose... as creatives I feel we need to explore, experiment, grow and evolve and not allow ourselves to be boxed in a static existence or medium. Currently, Collage allows me to upcycle paper material readily available and often overlooked, to create a sanctuary for my thoughts and emotional responses to live. The idea of recycling material and maintaining a eco-friendly balance or sustainability is important to my practice.
